December 1, 2023 CTPF's Investment Committee and First Friday Notes

All meetings are now conducted in person at 423 S. Financial Place. However, beneficiaries, trustees, and the public have the option to attend meetings in person or virtually. The meeting began at 9:45 am.  The current Chief Investment Officer presented an update on the Fossil Fuel Resolution that was approved by the Trustees at the Oct. 20, 2023, Board of Trustees Meeting. The theme of this manager meeting was climate-aware investing. 
During the meeting, the Trustees heard from four managers.

1. Legal & General Investment Management America (LGMA) Est. 2006.  They are the global investment arm of Legal & General Group, a UK asset manager, founded in 1836. LGMA boasts a Total Assets Under Management (AUM) to be $200 billion and approximately 71% of their clients are corporate and insurance clients with Defined Benefits.  More information?

2. Neuberger Berman Energy Transition Accelerator (NBETA) Est 1939 As a private, independent, employee-owned investment manager, Neuberger Berman is structurally aligned with long-term interests. 100% of employees' deferred compensation is directly linked to team and firm strategies-"doing it together," offices in 39 cities across 26 countries.  More information?

3. Veridian Global Investors LLC, Est. 2019 Women-Owned. Veridian's CIO/CEO and founder Ariane Mahler is the portfolio manager for the Climate Action Strategy. Ariane has 33 years of investment experience as a global equity portfolio manager and analyst, focusing much of her time on the energy, utility, and technology sectors together with their supply chain. She started the Climate Action Strategy with a dual purpose, delivering exceptional risk-adjusted returns, while helping drive energy efficiency and global decarbonization. 4. Rock Creek, Est 2003, Women-Owner Afsaneh Beschloss. Smart Futures is a growth equity fund investing in innovative companies that create and capture value in today's energy transition.
